The Eudocimus ruber, or the Scarlet Ibis, can be seen flying over Vancouver, BC’s unceded territory of the Coast Salish, where Richard & Haydn live, work, play, and met 17 years ago while working for one of the most prolific Canadian movie studios at the time. Dada Ibis Media is a full-service Vancouver-based production company, with expertise in creative producing, line producing, production management, finance, business affairs, tax credit administration, international co-productions, and production accounting. Dada Ibis creates an efficient, reliable, quality, and safe space for our partners’ and clients’ productions. Co-founded by industry veterans Richard Raghoo and Haydn Wazelle, the company executive produced the feature film Can I Get a Witness starring Sandra Oh, and the stop-motion film Inkwo for When the Starving Return, from Amanda Strong; both films had their World Premieres at TIFF 2024. Dada Ibis service produced the BC- audio work on the critically acclaimed Origin for Ava Duvernay, among other BC productions.

Haydn has worked producer-side on 5 international co-productions, 3 interprovincial co-productions, 11 feature films, 2 TV series, 4 documentaries, and 2 video games. Haydn’s knowledge and experience navigating B.C’s Film & TV & Interactive media environment while working alongside Canadian financiers like Telefilm and the Canada Media Fund has resulted in a unique expertise and a dearth of strategic industry and government relationships. In 2011, he co-founded ZedDrive.ca, Canada’s only competitor to PIX, Frameio, DAX, and Moxion. Haydn is the chair of the Black Screen Office (BSO) and sits on several national boards such as the Canadian Independent Screen Fund (CISF) for BPOC Creators, the Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA), and the Motion Picture Production Industry Assoc. of BC (MPPIA).

Most recently, Richard was the Vice President of Finance, Production at Great Pacific Media (Thunderbird Entertainment Group) in Vancouver, B.C, where he led the production accounting department and established and implemented controls and best practices for the organization. Born in Trinidad and Tobago, Richard has been in finance for over 25 years of which the last 17 have been in the film & TV industry in B.C. Working in both the corporate and production divisions, together with his enthusiasm for the industry, has allowed him to deepen his understanding and become a leader in his field. His experience in both corporate and production divisions at senior levels presents a unique skill set that is rare in the industry. Richard has worked with some notable Western producers and studios, namely Thunderbird, Insight Film Studios, and Reel One Entertainment where he seamlessly grew the accounting department to handle the studio’s growth from 5 to 25 productions annually.  Having worked on more than 50 MOWs and multiple TV series both scripted and factual, Richard brings a unique perspective and experience level to any entertainment organization. Richard is the board treasurer of DOC BC YT NT.

The Scarlet Ibis is the national bird of Trinidad & Tobago, where Haydn’s parents and Richard were born. Dada is Dada, Yes yes. Derived from an art movement of the avant-garde in the early 20th century.
